What is Reverse Balayage?

What is Reverse Balayage?

Just as red lipsticks had their balayage moments, the new hair style trend known as the “Reversed Balayage” became viral, and we can see more and more women posting photos of their new style on all social networks. Of course, the part of the humanity known as the VIP, also became crazy about the reversed balayage, and many celebs such as Rihanna, Jessica Alba, and Alexa Chung can be seen rocking these new style hairdos.

This hair dyeing technique is, like its name suggests, the classic balayage technique, only done upside down, and here are the most interesting facts about it.

How do they do it?

The Reversed Balayage technique means that the top of your hair will have a blond base, and then slowly turn to darker and darker chocolate shades as you go down. In order for the reversed balayage to be effective and to stand out, the blonde color needs to be light to create a better contrast.

However, there’s a difference between the classic balayage and the reversed balayage. Unlike the classic where bleach is applied, it’s brown hair dye that it applied to blond hair, and this creates a natural, sun-kissed crown effect.

Is it a high-maintenance style?

Even though it might look complicated to achieve and maintain, the truth is that this hair style is extremely easy to maintain. It includes regular visits to your hair stylist for root lightening and refreshing the brown ends.

Of course, those of you who want this look but are not natural blonds will have to spend more time in the salon and pay more for more hair refreshing visits.
